Reliable Heat for Every Production Stage
Pulp and paper production depends on a stable supply of steam, hot water or thermal oil.
These heating media are commonly used for:
Pulp Cooking · Evaporation · Paper Drying · Starch Preparation · Coating · Tank Heating · Cleaning
Huanuo Boiler provides customized heating solutions for pulp mills, paper mills, tissue paper plants, packaging paper manufacturers, recycled-paper facilities and integrated pulp and paper mills.
For most pulp and paper mills, a steam boiler is the primary choice for pulping, evaporation and paper-machine drying. Hot water boilers and thermal oil heaters are recommended only when required by the specific process and equipment design.
Recommended Boiler Selection
| Production requirement | Recommended Huanuo product | Typical application |
|---|---|---|
| General and stable steam demand | WNS Series Gas/Oil-Fired Fire-Tube Steam Boiler | Auxiliary steam, tank heating, pulp preparation and equipment cleaning in smaller mills |
| Higher efficiency and lower emissions | WNS Series Low-NOx Gas-Fired Steam Boiler with Condensing Economizer | Natural-gas projects seeking improved fuel utilization and lower NOx emissions |
| Large and continuous steam demand | SZS Series Gas/Oil-Fired Water-Tube Steam Boiler | Large integrated pulp and paper mills with high, continuous process-steam demand |
| Fast start-up or intermittent operation | LSS Series Gas/Oil-Fired Once-Through Steam Boiler | Auxiliary steam duties and production lines with intermittent or fluctuating steam demand |
| Small steam demand or no on-site combustion | W(L)DR Series Electric Steam Boiler | Laboratories, pilot operations, small facilities and supplementary steam supply |
| Stable and economical biomass available | DZL or SZL Series Biomass-Fired Steam Boiler | Mills with suitable local biomass fuels, such as clean wood residues, and appropriate fuel-handling and emission-control systems |
| Process hot water required | CWNS, WNS or W(L)DR Series Hot Water Boiler | Process-water heating, equipment washing and low-temperature heating duties |
| High-temperature indirect heating | YY(Q)W Series Gas/Oil-Fired Thermal Oil Heater | Specialized process lines where equipment design specifies high-temperature thermal-fluid heating |
The final solution should be selected according to the production process, required capacity, working pressure, load pattern, available fuel and site-specific operating requirements.
Key Considerations for Boiler Selection
01.Steam Requirements and Quality
Confirm where steam is used, such as pulp cooking, evaporation, paper drying, tank heating or equipment cleaning, and specify the required pressure and steam conditions.
Different processes and machines may require different steam conditions. The final boiler and steam-distribution arrangement should match the process design and equipment specifications.
02.Steam Capacity
Boiler capacity should be based on the maximum simultaneous steam demand of the complete mill—not the demand of a single paper machine or process unit.
Steam demand from pulping, evaporation, paper-machine drying, start-up and auxiliary systems should all be considered, along with working pressure and planned production expansion.
03.Load Pattern
Many pulp and paper mills operate continuously, while start-up, shutdown and changes in production rate can cause steam demand to fluctuate.
For mills with variable loads or critical continuous production, multiple boilers or a suitable standby unit may improve operating flexibility and help maintain steam supply during maintenance.
04.Fuel and Operating Cost
Boiler selection should consider more than the initial purchase price.
Local fuel availability and prices, annual operating hours, emission requirements, fuel-handling needs, condensate recovery and maintenance costs all affect long-term operating cost.
05.Water Treatment and Reliability
Proper feedwater treatment helps reduce scale and corrosion, maintain heat-transfer performance and extend boiler service life. Where suitable, condensate recovery can also help reduce water and energy consumption.
For continuous paper production, unexpected steam interruptions can affect production stability and product quality. Consider suitable standby capacity, reliable controls, preventive maintenance and an appropriate condensate-return system.
